How to set up 2FA on Instagram (Two-Factor Authentication)

Step 1: Go to Instagram “Settings”.

Step 2: Tap “Security”.
Step 3: Tap “Two-Factor Authentication”.
Step 4: Tap “Get Started”.

Step 5: Now choose how to get Login Codes - You can use an Authentication app (Recommended), WhatsApp, or Text Message.

Authentication app

Step 1: Turn the “Authentication App” on.
Step 2: Choose either “Install App” or “Set Up Manually” to proceed.

If you Choose Install DUO:

Step 1: Tap “Next” to be directed to App Store/Google Play.

Step 2: Download the recommended app by Instagram (DUO Mobile).

Step 3: Go back to Instagram and continue the process by following the instructions.

Step 4: You will be requested to enter your login code. At this moment a small pop-up window will allow you to use Duo Mobile to get a code. Tap Duo Mobile.

Step 5: Check the 6-digit code that Duo Mobile generated and enter it on your Instagram.

Step 6: Great! Now your 2FA is On.

Step 7: Tap Done. You will then be directed to your Recovery Codes, Take a screenshot of them, print them, and keep them in a safe place.

If you chose to set it up manually:

Step 1: Press on “Set up Another App”.

Step 2: Copy the key.

Step 3: Follow the instructions.

Step 4: Tap “Next”.

Step 5: Enter the key to the Authentication app you chose.

Step 6: The app will generate a 6-digit code. Once received, come back to Instagram, enter the code, and tap next.

Step 7: Instagram Two-Factor Authentication is on.

Step 8: Tap “Done”. Then you will be directed to your Recovery Codes, Take a screenshot of them, print them, and keep them in a safe place.

Via WhatsApp

Step 1: Turn "WhatsApp" on.

Step 2: Check your WhatsApp account and search for the 6-digit code from Instagram’s WhatsApp number.

Step 3: Enter the code and tap “Next”.

Step 4: Instagram Two-Factor Authentication is on.

Step 5: Tap Done. Then you will be directed to your Recovery Codes, Take a screenshot of them, print them, and keep them in a safe place.

Via Text Message

Step 1: Turn “Text Message” on.
Step 2: Enter Your Phone Number and tap “Next”.

Step 3: Open the app and follow the instructions.

Step 4: Enter the 6-digit code and tap next.

Step 5: Instagram Two-Factor Authentication is on.

Step 6: Tap Done. Then you will be directed to your Recovery Codes, Take a screenshot of them, print them, and keep them in a safe place.
